Shifts in Responsibilities

Knowing what responsibilities you can put down and which ones need to be passed to our caregivers.

One of the things that is really important to recognize is all the shifts in responsibilities and the fact that when the cancer patient can no longer do a responsibility or needs to reserve or conserve some energy, those responsibilities don’t go away.

So as you are divvying out the responsibilities, determine what you can give up, what can be taken away and what needs to be redistributed.  And for those things that do need to be redistributed, recognize that that is on someone else’s plate that was already pretty full.

Keep this in mind when all your family members reach out and say, “I want to help, what can I do?” Tell them..Tell them specifically what you need and what would really help.
